Rusting Dreams

An abandoned automobile, stripped of its wheels and consumed by rust, rests beneath a weathered mural of Fidel Castro. Above the revolutionary leader, the fading words “Hasta la Victoria” remain visible, while layers of peeling paint reveal decades of accumulated history.
Titled "Rusting Dreams", the photograph juxtaposes two enduring symbols of contemporary Cuba: the revolutionary promise and the material reality of time. The wrecked vehicle, once a machine of movement and possibility, has become a monument to stagnation, while the mural persists as an echo of ideals that shaped generations.
Balancing documentary observation and metaphor, the image reflects on the distance between aspiration and outcome. It is a meditation on memory, resilience, and the gradual transformation of certainty into history.
