Cerberus

At the entrance of a television center in Santiago de Cuba, a dog lies before a doorway framed by monumental portraits of Fidel Castro and Raúl Castro. What appears at first as a simple documentary scene gradually reveals itself as a visual allegory.

Titled Cerberus, the photograph invokes the mythical guardian of thresholds, the keeper of passages between one world and another. Here, the animal becomes a symbol of vigilance, while the enduring presence of the revolutionary leaders transforms the entrance into a metaphorical gate between Cuba’s past and its uncertain future.
